Florida's Interoperability Strategy
First - Provide network connections between Florida dispatch centers and install an interoperability tool to connect users on any radio system to any other radio system on the network. This network enables first responders on dissimilar radio systems and frequencies to communicate with each other as connected talk groups without requiring the replacement of local systems.
Second - Build out nine mutual aid channels throughout the state. Mutual aid channels provide radio service to first responders outside the range of their local system or when they need to communicate with users not on their local system. The mutual aid build-out substantially increases their geographic coverage, ensuring that wherever they go, Florida's first responders will have radio communication capability. This is in addition to the two 800 MHz channels already provided by the Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS).
